Douglas County Sheriff's Office in Nevada is seeking the public's assistance in identifying a person of interest in a home invasion case that occurred on the south shore of Lake Tahoe. The homeowner returned from a three-week vacation on June 5 to discover his residence had been unlawfully occupied.

The investigation began when the homeowner found a wallet containing a Visa debit card belonging to Clarence Zillman inside the ransacked home. Items within the residence had been disturbed, and the homeowner's birth certificate was reported missing.

Suspect Captured on Surveillance

Further investigation revealed that the suspect was allegedly seen on surveillance footage leaving a Safeway store at the Round Hill Shopping Center in Zephyr Cove. The individual was reportedly wearing clothing stolen from the homeowner's residence. The footage shows the man wearing the victim's clothes as he exited the store. IMAGE1

Authorities tracked the suspect to the Safeway after discovering a receipt for the purchase of two packs of Camel cigarettes at the crime scene. Investigators believe this receipt is linked to the individual seen in the surveillance video. While the homeowner’s shirt was recovered, his hat remains unaccounted for.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the incident and urges anyone with information to contact Investigator JT Davis at the Stateline Office at 775-586-7253. The investigation was ongoing as of July 9.
