A domestic violence suspect is dead following a high-speed pursuit and subsequent officer-involved shooting that led to the closure of a major Northern California freeway. The incident unfolded on Interstate 80 in Citrus Heights, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
The pursuit began when the suspect, involved in a domestic violence incident, fled from law enforcement in a vehicle. Deputies pursued the suspect, which eventually ended near the weigh station on I-80 between Greenback Lane and Antelope Road.
The Sheriff's Office confirmed that an officer-involved shooting occurred at the scene. The suspect sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. No deputies were injured during the pursuit or the subsequent encounter.
