Susanna Reid, host of Good Morning Britain, has questioned Kerry Katona about allowing her youngest daughter, Dylan-Jorge, to use social media at the age of eight. The discussion arose when Katona appeared on the program with her 19-year-old daughter, Heidi, to discuss Dylan-Jorge's burgeoning interest in adult skincare products, driven by online content.

Heidi, who is an influencer herself, shared her concern that her younger sister had become engrossed in "Get Ready With Me" videos and the pursuit of "glass skin," a trend popularized online. She told her mother that the situation was becoming "out of hand."

Reid directly asked Katona why she permitted her eight-year-old to be on social media. Katona responded that other children her daughter's age were also using the platforms, highlighting the peer pressure aspect. She admitted to being surprised by the young age of many children engaging with these products when she observed them in stores.

"I went to Boots, and there was all these eight year olds, droves of kids, at all these different products and I was like, 'I don't understand why you need all this skincare,'" Katona recounted. Heidi added, "I told you a million and one times Mum, this is getting out of hand."

Heidi defended her mother, noting that Katona had been stricter with her own social media access, not allowing her to use it until she was 13. Katona mentioned her experience with raising five children across different generations, observing how younger children have become more exposed to trends at earlier ages.

"As much as I try to keep her off it, everybody else is doing it. It's hard," Katona stated. Reid clarified that her questioning was not a criticism, to which Katona humorously replied about her parenting methods.

The conversation comes as the UK government plans to introduce a social media ban for individuals under 16, with 16 and 17-year-olds facing overnight curfews starting in Spring 2027. Heidi expressed support for such measures and called for age warnings on skincare products, warning that "adult beauty standards are being force-fed down kids' throats through social media."

In other news, Katona recently shared that Dylan-Jorge had to enroll in a state school after her private school closed. Katona expressed her daughter's disappointment, primarily due to the shorter summer holidays at state schools compared to the extended breaks offered by private institutions. Katona also voiced her opinion that schools assign too much homework during holiday periods.
