Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America Targets Iowa Voters on Abortion Stance
The organization has engaged in extensive door-to-door outreach and digital campaigns in Iowa, focusing on the Democratic Party's platform on abortion.
Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, a prominent anti-abortion organization, has launched a significant voter outreach effort in Iowa, a key battleground state. The campaign aims to inform voters about the Democratic Party's stance on abortion, which the group contends will "shock" them.
The organization's ground game has involved knocking on over 172,000 doors across Iowa, advocating for the Republican ticket. In addition to this direct voter contact, the group's super PAC, Women Speak Out PAC, is investing $1.35 million in digital outreach, complemented by a $650,000 digital spend from Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America itself. This extensive effort targets voters in the Iowa universe.
Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, stated that the scale of their voter contact program in Iowa is among the largest in the nation for the pro-life movement. The organization was observed engaging voters in Cedar Rapids, distributing literature supporting Republican Sen. Ashley Hinson and criticizing the abortion positions of Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rob Sand.
Literature distributed by the group characterizes Sand as being against Iowa families and intending to overturn pro-life legislation. It also alleges he supports late-term abortions. Conversely, Hinson is promoted as a "pro-life champion."
Field representatives for the organization reported that their conversations with voters have been effective, even with those who do not typically align with conservative viewpoints. They emphasized that many voters are surprised to learn about candidates' positions on abortion.
In August, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America and Women Speak Out PAC announced they had surpassed 100,000 home visits in Iowa, focusing on persuadable and low-turnout voters. Nationwide, Dannenfelser indicated that the organization aims to reach 10.5 million voters this election cycle, including 4 million through in-person interactions.
"Our hardworking field team has been on the ground in key battleground states, educating voters about the Democrats’ radical agenda of all-trimester abortion -- anytime, for any reason, paid for by taxpayers -- even when babies can feel pain," Dannenfelser said.
Polling suggests that a significant portion of Republican voters might disengage from the midterms if they perceive the GOP as abandoning the abortion issue. This underscores the strategic importance of mobilizing pro-life voters for the party's congressional control aspirations.
