Susan Anton, the 75-year-old Golden Globe nominee and former sex symbol of the late 1970s and 1980s, was recently photographed on a rare public outing with her husband, actor Jeff Lester, 71. The couple, married for 34 years, were seen running errands in the upscale community of Montecito, California.
Anton, known for her roles in "Goldengirl" and her headline-grabbing romances, appeared statuesque in black leggings and a long-sleeved shirt. Lester, who starred in a memorable "Seinfeld" episode as a masseur and had a stint on "Baywatch," matched her casual look in jeans and a black T-shirt. He carried their shopping bag during the outing.
Anton, who rose to fame after winning Miss Redlands and Miss California in 1969 and placing second runner-up in the 1969 Miss America Scholarship Pageant, first gained wider recognition for her role in the 1979 film "Goldengirl." Despite the film's box office performance, she earned a Golden Globe nomination.
Her personal life garnered significant media attention, including a much-publicized year-long romance with Sylvester Stallone in the late 1970s. At the time, both were married to other people, but the relationship ended after about a year when Stallone reconciled with his first wife, Sasha Czack. Anton's marriage to her first husband, Jack Stein, officially ended in divorce in May 1980.
Following her split from Stallone, Anton began dating actor Dudley Moore. Their relationship, which lasted five years, intrigued the public, partly due to their significant height difference. Moore described their relationship as "lingering on very pleasantly," but stated he did not wish to marry again. Anton and Moore amicably parted ways in 1985.
Lester, meanwhile, is remembered for his role as an FBI agent in "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home" and for his portrayal of a masseur in the "Seinfeld" episode "The Note." He also had roles in "Baywatch" and starred as Captain Justice in the short-lived CBS series "Once a Hero" in 1987.
Before marriage, Anton also had a career as a singer, releasing three albums between 1991 and 2001. She and Lester, who transitioned to directing and producing later in his career, co-founded their production company, Big Picture Studios, in 1997. Their production credits include the award-winning film "The Last Real Cowboys" (2000) and several short films.
