A survivor details the trauma of living with the notorious couple in their Gloucester home, describing the experience as 'hellish' and forever haunting.
A survivor has come forward to recount the harrowing experience of living with Fred and Rose West, describing her year with the infamous couple as "hellish" and an ordeal that continues to haunt her.
Kathleen Richards, who was 17 at the time, stated that upon arriving at 25 Cromwell Street in Gloucester, Fred West presented a friendly, fatherly demeanor, which eased her initial fears. She was seeking lodgings and found none of the typical warning signs of the sinister reality within the household.
Fred West was linked to twelve victims, nine of whom were buried at the property. He died by suicide in prison in 1995 while awaiting trial. Rose West was subsequently convicted of ten murders.
Richards' account underscores the deceptive normalcy that could mask the horrific crimes committed by the Wests, whose crimes have become a dark chapter in British criminal history.
