Surviving Beatles Back New Immersive Visitor Attraction in Liverpool
Plans for a major Beatles attraction, including a 'Yellow Submarine' experience, have received support from Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.
Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr have lent their support to a significant new Beatles visitor attraction planned for Liverpool. The development will see The Beatles Story relocate from its current home at Albert Dock to the former St John's Market site. Adjacent to this, a new 'Yellow Submarine' experience is slated for the St John's Beacon.
McCartney expressed his anticipation, stating he "can't wait" for visitors to "step into our story." Starr remarked on the enduring musical significance of Liverpool, saying, "Liverpool was, and still is, Music City."
The planned attraction aims to chronicle the band's journey from their origins in post-war Liverpool to their global fame. It is set to incorporate immersive technology, original artifacts, and recreated sets.
Apple Corps Ltd, which manages The Beatles' commercial and creative interests, will assume operational control of The Beatles Story in 2027, with the relocation scheduled for the following year. Tom Greene, CEO of Apple Corps, stated that the new destination would be fitting for the city's musical legacy, comparing it to other iconic sites. "Just like Graceland or Dollywood, it's fitting that The Beatles will have a world-class destination for fans to visit in the city where the story started," Greene said.
The visitor journey is designed to guide attendees from the band's early days in Liverpool, through their time in Hamburg, performances at The Cavern, the era of Beatlemania, and significant locations like Abbey Road, Shea Stadium, and Savile Row.
