The Supreme Court has denied former President Donald Trump's appeal of a $5 million defamation judgment awarded to writer E. Jean Carroll. This decision upholds the jury's finding against Trump, requiring him to pay the awarded damages.

A New York jury initially found Trump liable in 2023 for sexually abusing Carroll in a Manhattan department store in the mid-1990s. The jury also concluded that Trump defamed Carroll in 2022 when he publicly denied her allegations.

The Supreme Court's rejection of the appeal means the original judgment against Trump will remain in effect.
