Superhero-Clad Man Retrieves Stolen Handbag in UK

A man dressed as Batman, along with friends in superhero attire, chased down a thief who had stolen a woman's handbag in Norwich, England. The incident occurred Saturday night as the group was attending a party.

Sonni Mason, 25, who was wearing a full Batman costume, witnessed the theft inside a nightclub. He and his companions, dressed as Mr. Fantastic and Poison Ivy, alerted nearby police officers and pursued the suspect. The thief, attempting to evade the costumed pursuers, abandoned the handbag atop a high wall surrounding the city's cathedral.

Mason then scaled the wall to retrieve the stolen item and return it to its owner. Video footage of the event was shared on Mason's TikTok account. "That's what [Batman] is about. He's a protector," Mason told The Guardian, expressing a hope that his actions might inspire others to intervene when they witness similar incidents. He added, "It shouldn't take a superhero costume to make you want to do that."

A spokesperson for Norfolk police confirmed the robbery and Mason's role in recovering the handbag. Mason, who works in a cafe in London, stated he hoped his actions would encourage more people to act if they see someone being mugged or feeling unsafe.
