Supercars were set ablaze and petrol bombs were hurled at guests during a frightening incident outside a wedding reception in Birmingham. The attack occurred last night at the Royal Shalimar banqueting hall, where partygoers were celebrating.
Footage circulating on social media captured the moment two luxury vehicles, believed to be a Lamborghini and a McLaren, were engulfed in flames, sending thick plumes of smoke into the air. The attack involved five missiles, with three suspects, all dressed in black, reportedly seen on CCTV before the incident.
One individual allegedly ignited three missiles and threw them towards the building. Another member of the group then crossed the road and threw two more lit petrol bombs directly at the supercars. The projectiles are understood to have narrowly missed young partygoers and an infant who were standing outside the venue.
One of the missiles struck the front of the building, where hundreds of people were gathered.
Fahim Kayani, a witness dining inside the banqueting hall, described hearing a disturbance outside. "The restaurant staff responded very quickly and put the flames out using fire extinguishers before the emergency services arrived," he stated. Kayani, who is president of the all-party international Kashmir co-ordination committee, also noted that one person kicked a missile away before it could roll under one of the cars. West Midlands Police have been approached for comment.
