Sunny Hostin, a co-host on ABC's "The View," reportedly name-dropped her television show and questioned police officers about their awareness of her identity after her son was cited for trespassing in New York last month. Her son, 24-year-old Gabriel Hostin, was cited on June 16 for allegedly jogging along MTA tracks and disregarding "no trespassing" signs near 24 Station Plaza in New Rochelle.
According to reports, officers were addressing the trespassing violation when Sunny Hostin, who was on the phone with the officers, allegedly asked if they knew who she was and stated that she works on "The View." A source told The New York Post, "She said I am Sunny Hostin, I am on The View."
Gabriel Hostin, a graduate of Harvard University, is scheduled to appear in New Rochelle court on July 31. His mother, a former federal prosecutor and lawyer, is listed as his attorney in the case. Sunny Hostin has submitted a letter to Assistant District Attorney Amanda Greene requesting the dismissal of the charges. In the letter, obtained by TMZ, Hostin argued that her son, an accomplished runner and former Junior Olympian, had no criminal history and believed the area was accessible for training.
She stated that the gates to the area were open, and the "no trespassing" sign was not visible as he entered. Hostin further contended that her son was facing "unnecessary consequences" for what she described as an "honest mistake" and that dismissal would prevent undue hardship on a young man with an "exceptional character and achievement."
Sunny Hostin has been a co-host on "The View" since 2016. She is married to orthopedic surgeon Emmanuel 'Manny' Hostin, and they also have a 20-year-old daughter, Paloma.
