Sunny Hostin, co-host of the ABC talk show "The View," reportedly identified herself and her program to police officers when her 24-year-old son, Gabriel, was cited for trespassing on Metro-North railroad tracks in New Rochelle, New York, on June 16. According to reports, Hostin spoke to officers by phone after her son was found jogging on the active tracks, ignoring posted "no trespassing" signs.
One source told The New York Post that Hostin asked officers, "Do you know who I am?" before mentioning her role on "The View."
Gabriel Hostin was cited near 24 Station Plaza for being "on the right-of-way of the active railroad tracks, in violation of the posted no trespassing signs." His court appearance is scheduled for July 31.
Hostin, a former federal prosecutor, subsequently wrote a letter to the District Attorney, identifying herself as her son's lawyer and requesting the case be dismissed. In the letter, obtained by TMZ, she described her son as a "2025 Harvard University graduate with no criminal history or prior contact with the criminal justice system." She stated he is an "avid runner and former Junior Olympian track athlete" who was in the area for training. Hostin argued that the trespassing sign at the entrance was not visible as the gate was left open and that her son "reasonably believed the area was accessible and had no intention of entering private property unlawfully."
She characterized the incident as an "honest mistake" and urged dismissal to avoid "unnecessary consequences on a young man who has demonstrated exceptional character and achievement and who poses no risk to the community."
