Sunny Hostin Recounts Children Facing Racism at Predominantly White Private Schools

Sunny Hostin, a co-host on "The View," has shared that her children experienced racism and bullying while attending private schools that were predominantly White. Hostin recounted these experiences on the show while discussing comments made by Nikole Hannah-Jones, the founder of the 1619 Project, who recently expressed regret over her decision to send her daughter to predominantly Black, high-poverty public schools in Brooklyn.

Hostin stated that while her children did not face academic challenges at their well-resourced private schools, they endured psychological trauma and "trauma around their identity." She provided specific examples, including children attempting to put pencils in her daughter's afro and calling her "butter face."

In response to Hannah-Jones' reflections, Hostin highlighted what she described as a "systemic problem" within public education, particularly in predominantly non-White districts. She noted that these schools often receive significantly less funding than their White counterparts.

Hannah-Jones, in a comment to Fox News Digital, shifted the focus to families who lack the financial means to seek better educational options for their children, stating that the conversation should address the broader issue of educational inequality and resource disparities.

Fox News Digital reached out to ABC and the Ethical Culture Fieldston School, where Hostin's children previously attended, for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
