Sunny Hostin, a co-host on ABC's "The View," faced scrutiny from her fellow panelist Alyssa Farah Griffin regarding her previous affirmations of support for Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner, particularly in light of recent allegations against him. Griffin pressed Hostin on whether she would remain comfortable voting for Platner if she resided in Maine, a scenario Hostin had previously addressed.

During a discussion on the developing allegations, co-host Sara Haines criticized liberals for supporting Platner based on his party affiliation. "It is a disgusting time in politics where we decide what we're willing to morally accept based on the jersey you're wearing, and if you are one of those people that was willing to plug your nose, you’re the problem," Haines stated. Hostin acknowledged, "I was one of those people."

Hostin then shifted the focus to the Republican Party, citing the confirmation of Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. She recalled a 2017 claim of sexual assault against Hegseth, noting that he settled the claim for $50,000 in 2020. Griffin interjected, questioning why Hostin wouldn't condemn such accusations universally. Hostin asserted that the Republican Party had confirmed Hegseth, while Griffin stated, "I'm a Republican right here condemning anyone who's been credibly accused of sexual abuse."

Hostin also brought up the case of Jeffrey Epstein in her critique of the Republican Party. When Griffin directly asked if Hostin would still be comfortable voting for Platner, Hostin did not answer, instead reiterating her criticism of the GOP's perceived moral standing. Later in the segment, Hostin suggested Platner should withdraw from the race, allowing the party to replace him.

Hostin also confronted Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, who was also a guest on "The View," about a deleted social media post concerning one of Platner's accusers. Greene's post suggested that accusers should report allegations immediately and questioned the timing of the claims. Hostin challenged Greene's phrasing, particularly the reference to "consensual sex," emphasizing that a past consensual relationship does not preclude the possibility of rape.

Earlier in June, Hostin had characterized Platner as "a liar, a racist, an antisemite" and "a homophobe." However, she simultaneously argued for Democrats to regain control of Congress, suggesting that winning Platner's Senate seat was a necessary step to reintroduce checks and balances to the government, even if it meant holding her nose and voting for him.
