Sue Barker, the former tennis player and television presenter, returned to Centre Court at Wimbledon on Sunday, taking her place in the Royal Box alongside football World Cup hero Sir Geoff Hurst and numerous other prominent British athletes.

The appearance marked a notable return for Barker, 70, who stepped down from presenting the BBC's Wimbledon coverage and had previously been dropped from her 24-year hosting role on "A Question of Sport" in 2020. She had described her departure from the popular quiz show as being "effectively axed" by the BBC as part of a programming refresh.

Barker was greeted with cheers from the Wimbledon crowd as she arrived for Day Seven of the championships. She was seated among a collection of Britain's most celebrated sports figures, including Sir Geoff Hurst, 84, who was attending with his granddaughter Amy Driver.

The day's schedule included a fourth-round singles match between Novak Djokovic and Roman Safiullin, alongside matches featuring Naomi Osaka and Aryna Sabalenka. The attendees in the Royal Box represented a wide array of sporting disciplines.

Notable guests alongside Barker and Hurst included ice skating legend Dame Jayne Torvill, Olympic Double Gold Medallist Dame Kelly Holmes, cricket star Sir James Anderson and his wife Lady Daniella, and former England rugby union player Matt Dawson. Also present were Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill, a 2012 Olympic heptathlon gold medallist, accompanied by her husband Andy Hill; Olympic gold medallist track cyclists Sir Jason Kenny and Dame Laura Kenny; and former rugby union player James Haskell.

Sir Geoff Hurst, who scored a hat-trick in England's 1966 World Cup final victory, attended Wimbledon the day after participating in efforts to recover Bobby Moore's missing red jersey from the 1966 World Cup final. His appearance came amid news that Moore's widow, Tina Moore, has initiated legal action alleging a businessman from Wales either possesses the iconic shirt or knows its whereabouts.

Sir Geoff, wearing a blue suit and a striped tie, was seen waving to the crowd. Other guests, such as Dame Jayne Torvill in a blue floral dress and Dame Kelly Holmes in a blue and white gown, also garnered attention for their attire. Jessica Ennis-Hill wore an ivory pant suit.

Several other sports personalities were also in attendance, including England footballer Lauren James, former rugby union player and coach Sir Clive Woodward, cricket commentator David Gower, and former footballer Graeme Souness.

Looking ahead to the next day of the men's singles, Britain's Arthur Fery is scheduled to compete against Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov for a quarter-final spot. Fery secured his place in the last 16 with a five-set comeback victory in the longest match of the current Championships.
