Simpson, known for his outlaw country sound and his alter ego Johnny Blue Skies, shared his perspective on what it takes to build a sustainable career in the music industry.

"Talent's not as rare as people think," Simpson stated in a recent interview. He recounted his early days in Nashville, observing individuals with considerable talent who lacked the necessary drive. "There are so many people I met when I moved to Nashville 15 years ago who had exponentially more talent than I do, but they had no work ethic. Or they thought [sic] that, because they were brilliant, they didn’t have to earn their medals."

Simpson elaborated on the grind required, suggesting that aspiring artists need to endure challenging conditions to build a fanbase. "No, btch, get in the van and go do circles and sleep on f**ing floors for six months until 12 people in a room give a sht," he advised. "That’s the only thing that’s going to be lasting. If you’re waiting on some machine to pump you out, that machine is going to flush your a* too."

His comments reflect a philosophy that prioritizes perseverance and dedication over perceived innate ability. This emphasis on authenticity and hard work has contributed to his significant following and critical acclaim throughout his career.
