Student Who Mocked Charlie Kirk's Death Attended Elite Prep School

A University of Texas at San Antonio student, identified as Isabela Casahuga Lemgruber, 19, has drawn condemnation for reciting a poem mocking the death of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk and for remarks made to activist Christian Collins during a campus event. Lemgruber's family background, including her attendance at an elite $30,000-a-year all-girls prep school and her parents' now-scrubbed professional online profiles, has also come under scrutiny.

Lemgruber reportedly read the poem at an event hosted by Collins last month at UTSA. The poem, a parody of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas," referenced Kirk's death by a gunshot to the neck in September 2025.

"The flags were hung proudly, the memes all on deck as we solemnly remembered a shot to the neck," Lemgruber recited, according to a video shared by Collins. She also told Collins he was "brave for being out here, I mean, no protection, no nothing, no, like, neck brace."

UTSA confirmed it is aware of the social media content involving the student and is taking the matter seriously. A university spokesperson stated that the sentiments expressed do not reflect the institution's values and that the matter is being reviewed through its student conduct processes. The UT System Board of Regents Chairman Kevin Eltife and UT System Chancellor John Zerwas issued a joint statement condemning the incident, vowing not to tolerate the incitement of violence.

Before attending UTSA, Lemgruber was a member of the debate team at St. Agnes Academy in Houston, a Roman Catholic institution with an annual tuition of approximately $28,400. She introduced herself at the event as "pamper baby" and, before reciting the poem, mentioned she was an immigrant and felt "kind of guilty."

Isabela is the daughter of Paula Casahuga, a Houston-based realtor born in Brazil, and Guillem Casahuga, a partner at international management consulting firm Arthur Little. Paula Casahuga's LinkedIn profile, which described her as an "experienced licensed real estate agent," was deactivated, and her name was removed from her employer's website. Guillem Casahuga's LinkedIn page has also been deactivated. The family resides in a $1.6 million home in Houston.

Following the incident, Collins reportedly told Lemgruber, "I'll pray for you," to which she responded, "Baby, I'm thrilled."
