Student Survives 8th-Floor Fall After Dancing

Panicked 911 calls released on Saturday reveal the harrowing moments after a University of Georgia senior accidentally plunged from her 8th-floor apartment window and miraculously survived the fall. Kristin Sargent, 21, was rushed to intensive care with several broken bones after falling from her apartment at The Rambler Athens building and landing on the pool deck below.

Calls to emergency services shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Saturday captured the distress of witnesses. "We were dancing, and she just fell out of the window," a friend told a dispatcher, her voice trembling. "She’s not moving." The friend stated that they had been drinking, but insisted, "It was nothing extreme at all, we were all fully conscious."

Another resident from the same building, who witnessed the fall from his 5th-floor apartment, also contacted 911. "I just saw someone fall out of, like, the eighth-floor window and land on the grass by the pool," he reported. "They look, like, they’re unconscious, at least."

Sargent is currently recovering in intensive care. Investigators are looking into the circumstances of the fall, which occurred while she was reportedly dancing on a couch.
