Former Scotland rugby captain Stuart Hogg has sold his five-bedroom home in Hawick, Roxburghshire, after reducing the asking price by nearly £300,000. The property is now listed as ‘sold subject to conditions’ on the estate agent’s website.
Hogg and his ex-wife Gillian initially listed the property for offers in the region of £850,000 in April of last year. The price was reduced several times, with the most recent listing seeking offers over £575,000.
The sales brochure described the house as offering a “unique opportunity to equestrian and countryside enthusiasts” and those seeking a “more peaceful way of life.” It noted that the property had been tastefully refurbished and was in “turn key condition” with stylish internal features.
Hogg admitted to a five-year course of domestic abuse against his estranged wife in 2024 and received a community payback order with supervision. He was subsequently banned from contacting his ex-wife. He had previously attributed his actions to alcohol and antidepressants and expressed regret over retiring from the sport to save his marriage.
Hogg, who amassed 100 senior caps for Scotland and participated in three British and Irish Lions tours, remains one of Scotland's all-time leading try scorers. He was awarded an MBE in the 2024 New Year honours list for his services to rugby union but was later stripped of the title. He came out of retirement in 2024 to sign a two-year contract with Montpellier.
