Strictly Come Dancing in Uproar After Contestant Leaks Results
Love Island star Cach Mercer posted a now-deleted video celebrating his survival before the results show aired, causing a stir among viewers.
Strictly Come Dancing faced disruption when contestant Cach Mercer inadvertently revealed he had progressed to week four of the competition prior to the official results announcement. The Love Island star, 25, shared a video on social media showing him celebrating in a dressing room after filming the results show. The post was quickly deleted after fans pointed out the spoiler.
In the video, Mercer captioned his post: "Made it through to another week, Praise God!" He and his professional dance partner, Maddie Ingoldsby, had performed a Couple's Choice routine to RAYE's "Beware. The South London Lover Boy" on Saturday night. While the energetic routine was visually engaging, the judges offered mixed feedback, with Craig Revel Horwood deeming it "too stop-and-start" and Motsi Mabuse noting it "needs more polish." Anton Du Beke, however, expressed his approval, stating he "liked it a lot." Despite the critiques, the pair achieved a season-high score of 31 points.
Followers quickly commented on Mercer's post, highlighting that the results had not yet been broadcast. "It’s not even on yet!" and "You do know the results aren’t out yet?" were among the reactions before Mercer removed the video.
Meanwhile, Melanie Walters and her professional partner Aljaz Skorjanec became the second couple eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing. Walters, known for her role in the BBC sitcom Gavin & Stacey, found herself in the dance-off after scoring 17 points for her charleston to Gina G's "Ooh Ahh... Just A Little Bit." She faced former footballer Shaun Wright-Phillips and his partner Alexis Warr, who had placed last on the leaderboard with 15 points.
After both couples performed again, the judges opted to save Wright-Phillips and Warr. Motsi Mabuse cast the sole vote for Walters, while Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, and Anton Du Beke chose to save their competitors.
Upon her exit, Walters appeared emotional, stating, "Well to tell you the truth, I thought I was going to be out last week so I have had an extra week with this wonderful soul." Skorjanec expressed his gratitude for their time together, praising Walters' professionalism and hard work. "We started every day with 'Partner, let's have the best day ever' so let's finish this with a hug and thank you for every single bit in rehearsals and every single step on that floor. Thank you," he said.
Walters and Skorjanec will appear on "Strictly It Takes Two" on Monday. The remaining 13 couples are set to compete in "Icons Week" next.
