Strictly Come Dancing Faces Crisis Talks Amid Falling Ratings and Presenter Criticism

The BBC is preparing for crisis talks to address declining viewership and criticism surrounding the current series of Strictly Come Dancing. Senior producers are said to be concerned about the show's reception this year, with one insider describing the situation as a "Premier League product" currently operating at a "League One standard."

Despite the challenges, BBC executives are determined to revive the program's appeal. "Nobody wants to give up on Strictly. It's a brilliant show and everyone inside the BBC believes that," a source told The Mail on Sunday. "It needs the jazz and glamour put back into it, and they are determined to do that."

Plans are underway for a comprehensive meeting where ideas will be proposed to revamp the show for the upcoming season. While changes are unlikely to be implemented during the current series, a significant overhaul is anticipated for next year.

The 24th season has faced increased scrutiny due to a new hosting trio: Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe, and Johannes Radebe, who took over from Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman. While Willis has been well-received, Widdicombe and Radebe have reportedly faced criticism for missed cues and timing errors.

Previous reports indicated that BBC executives were aware of the need to adjust the presenting lineup. There is a possibility that Radebe could transition to the judging panel, as at least one judge is expected to depart.

Securing high-profile celebrity contestants has also become more challenging, according to show insiders. After 22 years, many prominent personalities have already participated, making it increasingly difficult to attract A-list stars. "You can see a big extra push to get better names but they are harder and harder to get," a source noted.

Amidst these discussions, some contestants have garnered positive attention. Jaime Winstone's performances have reportedly impressed figures like Kelly Osbourne and Cara Delevingne, with even Taylor Swift expressing admiration for her dancing.
