Jane Bullock, a 60-year-old former professional ballroom dancer and coach on the BBC's 'Strictly Come Dancing,' may be forced to sell her home to afford the extensive care she requires after suffering a catastrophic stroke.

Bullock collapsed in her Wolverhampton home in August 2025 after teaching a dance class. She was subsequently hospitalized and placed on life support for nearly a month. After an eight-month hospital stay, she returned home earlier this year, but now needs constant, 24/7 care. The stroke has left her partially blind and with no movement on the left side of her body. She also experiences challenges with bladder and bowel control and has Crohn's disease, which contributes to sleepless nights for her and her husband, Warren Bullock.

"It's difficult and it's also helping her to eat, helping her to drink - it's relentless," Warren Bullock told the BBC. He described the initial realization of his wife's condition, noting her drooping mouth and her inability to respond correctly when asked to move her left arm.

The cost of Ms. Bullock's care, which includes five physiotherapy sessions per week (three of which are privately funded), specialist equipment, and weekly care costs totaling approximately £1,640, amounts to nearly £2,000 per week. The couple, who met at 19 and have been married for decades, are struggling to meet these expenses on Mr. Bullock's income alone.

To help cover the mounting costs, Mr. Bullock set up a GoFundMe campaign in June, which has raised over £72,000 to date. He expressed shock and gratitude for the public's support but also urged the government to provide more assistance for families facing similar situations.

"The government doesn't have enough money to pay for care like this for everybody that needs it," he stated. The couple's GoFundMe page outlines the ongoing needs, including daily neuro-physiotherapy, personal care, specialized transport, and home adaptations for a downstairs disabled-friendly wet room and toilet, emphasizing that these costs will be lifelong.

Jane Bullock, who has been a dancer for 54 years and represented England internationally, co-owned the ZigZag Dance Factory with her husband for over three decades. The couple also appeared in the Netflix reality series 'Baby Ballroom.' Her husband holds onto the hope that she will one day walk again and that her quality of life will improve.
