Progressive streamer Hasan Piker celebrated Democratic midterm victories by mocking God and threatening conservative opponents with jail time. Piker, who has been associated with Michigan Senator-elect Abdul El-Sayed, posted several messages on X, formerly Twitter, following the election results.
"WE'RE GONNA PUT YOUR ASS IN JAIL EVERYONE GET MORE WOKE RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!," Piker posted in response to a comment about a Democratic "blue tsunami." He later targeted conservative commentator Laura Loomer, writing, "YOURE [sic] GOING TO JAIL JIGSAW (for being criminally ugly)."
Piker also reacted to Texas Senate candidate James Talarico's win, repeating Talarico's past controversial statement that "God is nonbinary." Piker added, "GOD IS NONBINARY NOW MFS!!! ITS LAW!!!" and "WOKE IS SO BACK."
These comments come amid a successful night for Democrats, who flipped both chambers of Congress. Republicans had hoped that the more progressive elements of the Democratic party might hinder their chances of regaining control, but those hopes were largely unmet.
Democrats secured 54 Senate seats following wins in states like Texas and Kansas. The House of Representatives saw Democrats with 228 seats heading into Wednesday morning, with more expected as ballots are counted.
Piker has previously drawn controversy for past statements, including remarks that suggested American Jews were inviting violence against themselves due to their support for Israel. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries condemned these comments as "malicious and antisemitic."
Piker was a prominent figure during El-Sayed's primary campaign, with images emerging of the two together on election day. El-Sayed's campaign had previously been asked to condemn Piker's comments but declined, stating the campaign was not about "a streamer from California."
