Oil traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has returned to and, on some days, exceeded pre-war levels, according to Vice President JD Vance. He made these remarks on Tuesday during an appearance on The Michael Knowles Show.
Vance indicated that the reopening of the waterway was a result of a memorandum of understanding between the U.S. and Iran. He acknowledged, however, that the total number of ship passages through the strait remains lower than the pre-war daily average of 130 to 150 vessels.
Data from Lloyd's List indicated that approximately 240 ships transited the strait last week. Vance addressed potential criticisms, noting that while the overall traffic may be down, the oil transit specifically has reached its previous height.
