Reality television personality Darrell Sheets, known for his role on A&E’s “Storage Wars,” died by suicide in April, leaving a note that cited “Facebook bullying” as a reason for his actions. According to a police report obtained by TMZ, detectives found a handwritten note in Sheets’s home that read, “I could not take anymore the Facebook bulling, f*** you [redacted].” The handwriting in the note was described as “shaky.”
Details from Sheets’s final moments were also included in the report. An unnamed girlfriend told police that Sheets was unable to sleep the night of his death and left their bed. She later heard a single gunshot after finding him in his office doorway and telling him to return to bed.
The girlfriend also stated that Sheets’s son, Brandon Sheets, had recently been involved in an argument with his father over “family drama” at the Arizona home. She further claimed that Sheets's daughter-in-law had texted him, accusing the girlfriend of stealing money and expressing suspicion.
Sheets was reportedly “visibly upset” by this confrontation. The girlfriend recounted that arguments escalated to shouting, and she left the house at one point due to the son yelling at Sheets. She claimed Sheets expressed not wanting to be alone with his son and that he felt he had let his son down, describing himself as “sad as hell” after the visit.
In addition to the arguments, Sheets had been experiencing “severe insomnia” for months prior to his death, and his girlfriend indicated he was under “tremendous stress,” though she stated he had never discussed harming himself. Their relationship was described as “strong."
The Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed in May that Sheets died by suicide. He was 67 years old and passed away on April 22.
Sheets's "Storage Wars" castmates Laura and Dan Dotson claimed he had lived in fear of alleged cyberbullying for approximately three years prior to his death. They noted that such harassment can affect anyone, regardless of perceived strength.
Prior to his death, Sheets had reportedly addressed his alleged cyberbullies in a Facebook post, mentioning that his “cyberbully stalker” had also harassed others. A sergeant with the Lake Havasu City Police Department acknowledged awareness of the cyberbullying accusations, stating they were part of an active investigation.
Brandon Sheets, who appeared on the series with his father from 2010 to 2017, posted a tribute to his father on Instagram, expressing his heartbreak and promising to honor his father's legacy. Sheets's ex-wife, Kimber Wuerfel, also shared a memorial post on Instagram, remembering the moments of laughter and connection he brought into their lives.
