Durham surged to a commanding 338-run victory over Derbyshire in their County Championship Division Two clash, with a stellar performance from all-rounder Ben Stokes and a century from Ben McKinney.

Stokes, the former England Test captain, took five wickets for 17 runs and scored an unbeaten 66, while McKinney, a 21-year-old opener, struck 140 to guide Durham to a crushing win inside three days. England spinner Shoaib Bashir also contributed with three wickets in the first innings.

Durham established their dominance early, bowling Derbyshire out for 156 in their first innings, with paceman Matthew Potts taking 5-46. Potts continued his impressive form, becoming the leading wicket-taker in the Championship. In the second innings, Derbyshire collapsed to 84 all out, with Stokes taking three wickets in four balls and finishing with 5-17. This marked the heaviest defeat by runs in Derbyshire's history.

After losing captain Alex Lees early, McKinney anchored Durham's second innings with a composed 140 from 162 balls, hitting 15 fours and six sixes. He shared a 157-run partnership with Will Rhodes (52) before Stokes provided a rapid acceleration, scoring 66 not out from 55 deliveries. Durham declared their second innings at 295-6, setting Derbyshire a target of 423.

Potts's consistent pace and late movement troubled Derbyshire's top order in their second innings, while Stokes's bowling proved decisive. The victory brings Durham closer to promotion to Division One.
