The New York Post's baseball handicapper, known as "Stitches," is looking for a fresh start in August and has placed a wager on the St. Louis Cardinals against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Stitches is backing the Cardinals at +125 odds on BetMGM, placing a $50 bet. The Cardinals will be starting pitcher Quinn Mathews, who is making his MLB debut. Mathews had a 5-3 record with 111 strikeouts for the Memphis Redbirds. He will face veteran pitcher Kevin Gausman of the Blue Jays, who has pitched over 2,000 innings in his major league career.
The handicapper has acknowledged a recent streak of unsuccessful picks, stating, "Our picks have been as dead as LIV Golf." He notes a historically poor run that has left him at -627.
Stitches has been handicapping baseball for the Post since 2019 and has finished in the positive twice. He also won the Post's NFL Best Bet crown last year.
