Steve Gleason Roasts Peyton Manning on 'Manningcast' with Viral Forehead Joke
Saints legend makes a surprise appearance on the broadcast during the 20th anniversary of the Superdome's reopening.
New Orleans Saints hero Steve Gleason joined Peyton and Eli Manning on the "Manningcast" during Monday night's game between the Falcons and Saints, delivering a memorable jab at the Hall of Fame quarterback. Gleason's appearance coincided with the 20th anniversary of the Caesars Superdome reopening post-Hurricane Katrina.
During the broadcast, as the Falcons held a commanding 31-10 lead in the third quarter, Peyton Manning showcased a clip of himself punting. Gleason, who was a special guest for the occasion, responded with a direct and humorous threat to Manning. "Peyton, unfortunately for both of us, long before I hit the ball, I [would] hit your forehead," Gleason stated, drawing a laugh from the hosts and viewers.
The moment quickly went viral, with the clip shared widely across social media platforms. Gleason, a beloved figure in New Orleans for his iconic blocked punt in the first Saints home game after Hurricane Katrina in 2006, is also a prominent advocate for ALS research.
Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees, another Saints legend, was also present for the game and made an appearance on the broadcast. The game itself saw the Atlanta Falcons dominate the Saints with a 45-24 victory. Falcons running backs Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier combined for five touchdowns and over 200 rushing yards.
The Saints' loss dropped their season record to 1-3. The team has struggled at home, losing 13 of their last 19 games in the Superdome.
