Author Stephen King has publicly supported Graham Platner, a Maine Democratic Senate candidate facing allegations of sexual assault. Platner's ex-girlfriend, Jenny Racicot, detailed accusations that he broke into her home and committed a drunken sexual assault, according to a report published by Politico.

In response to the allegations and subsequent calls for Platner to withdraw from the race, King stated on social media that he hopes the candidate "pushes through." The "The Shining" author, who resides in Maine, argued that "everyone on Capitol Hill has skeletons in their closets." He further commented, "Jesus said, 'Let him without sin cast the first stone.'"

King's remarks come as several Democrats have withdrawn their endorsements for Platner following the accusations, which threaten to derail his campaign. The candidate has been embroiled in other controversies during his bid for the Senate seat.
