Apple TV+ is set to release its new drama series, "Nocturne," on Friday, October 30. The series, which stars Stephen Graham, Liev Schreiber, and Zazie Beetz, is based on Lars Kepler's crime novels "The Sandman" and "Lazarus."
"Nocturne" follows Jonah Lynn (Schreiber), an ex-soldier turned homicide detective who moves to a small town in Western Pennsylvania seeking a quiet life. However, his peace is shattered when the town and his family come under attack from a serial killer named Jurek Walter (Graham). The synopsis indicates that Jonah must protect his loved ones and will send his surrogate daughter, FBI Agent Saga Bauer (Beetz), to confront Jurek.
The first two episodes of "Nocturne" will be available on October 30, with subsequent episodes released weekly on Fridays. The series will conclude its 10-episode run on December 25.
Apple TV+ typically releases new episodes at 9:00 p.m. ET the night before the official premiere date. Therefore, "Nocturne's" first episodes may be available as early as Thursday, October 29, at 9:00 p.m. ET.
The cast also includes Rory Culkin, Poorna Jagannathan, Bill Camp, Gary Carr, and Chrissy Metz. The series was created by Rowan Joffe and co-showrun by John Hlavin.
"Nocturne" is adapted from two novels in Lars Kepler's Joona Linna series. "The Sandman," the fourth book, centers on Detective Joona Linna investigating the disappearance of siblings thirteen years prior and the potential involvement of the imprisoned serial killer Jurek Walter. "Lazarus," the seventh book, features Joona Linna and Saga Bauer investigating a series of gruesome deaths of criminals across Europe, suspecting a vigilante killer with a darker purpose.
Lars Kepler, a pen name for the husband-and-wife writing duo Alexander Ahndoril and Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril, has authored ten novels in the Joona Linna series, which have sold over 20 million copies globally and been translated into 40 languages.
"Nocturne" will be available for streaming on Apple TV+. The service offers a seven-day free trial for new subscribers and has a monthly subscription fee of $14.99. A bundle including Apple TV+ and Peacock is also available starting at $14.99 per month.
