Stephanie Rice Embraces New Identity as Stephanie Lassey, Launches Business Consultancy in Dubai

Olympic gold medalist Stephanie Rice has officially adopted her husband's surname, becoming Stephanie Lassey, and has launched a new career as a business consultant at the age of 38. This rebranding follows her move to Dubai three years prior with a "one-way ticket."

Lassey, who previously dominated the swimming world, with her peak performance at the 2008 Beijing Games where she secured three gold medals, has started a new Instagram account under her married name. The account is dedicated to her business consulting services, with a bio stating, "For the woman who knows she’s capable of more and is sick of starting over. I’m rebuilding at 38, but this time, with Jesus at the center of it all."

The new Instagram page was launched with a collection of photos reflecting her recent personal journey, detailing both challenges and triumphs. In a post, Lassey expressed her desire to share her new path: "Feels like the perfect time to start a fresh account, in my new name, and with a new commitment to sharing the journey God is taking me on." She conveyed hope that her story could inspire others, stating, "I pray that my story would give you hope that God has the power to turn lives around, to restore what’s been broken and bless you above what you’ve asked thought or even imagined."

She also shared insights into a significant turning point in her life when she resigned from an executive position. "I’ve won Olympic gold. Made millions of dollars. Lost everything. Found Jesus," she captioned an image. Lassey described her past struggles, where her self-worth became tied to her achievements, leading to fluctuating confidence. "On the outside I had it all. Don’t get me wrong. It was incredible. But somewhere along the way, I started tying my value to my success," she explained.

Lassey detailed hitting a low point, exacerbated by public scrutiny, failed businesses, and legal battles. "But the highs didn’t last," she wrote. "If I’m honest, I was ready to handle the weight of responsibility I was given at such a young age. And the public scrutiny, hate comments, legal battles and failed businesses kept breaking my faith that the future would get better."

It was during this period that she found faith, describing a moment of surrender: "That’s when I met Jesus. He found me at my lowest, completely exhausted from trying so hard to turn my life around and feeling so behind. I surrendered it all to him and we started the most incredible journey together."

This spiritual awakening led to a radical life change. "I sold everything. Packed up my life in Australia and bought a one way ticket to Dubai to begin a new journey with God at the center. I had no job. No friends and no plan, yet it felt so right," she recounted.

Lassey also spoke about a recent career decision where she resigned from a CEO position, despite it being a dream role, because she felt it was what God intended. "Eight months into that role, I was offered to become CEO, my dream position. But God asked me to resign. I obeyed. So here I am, starting again at 38. Honestly, I thought my career would be further along by now. I’m 38 and I’m back at zero."

She concluded her announcement by focusing on her new purpose: "My page is for the woman like me, who knows she’s capable of more, but her life doesn’t reflect it yet. You don’t lack dreams or desire, you lack the consistency and system to see it through. I pray we would step into the best version of ourselves and that God would do abundantly more for you that you’ve asked, thought or even imagined."

Lassey is married to Mark Lassey, a pastor. They were married in January 2025, after he proposed in September 2024. As of Tuesday morning, her new Instagram page had garnered nearly 6,000 followers.
