Steph Curry Misses Klay Thompson, Reflects on Warriors' Dynasty
Curry expressed his continued fondness for his former teammate as Thompson begins a new chapter with the Miami Heat.

Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry acknowledged on Tuesday that he misses his former teammate Klay Thompson “every day,” as Thompson embarks on a new phase of his NBA career.
Curry, speaking on “The Stephen A. Smith Show,” reflected on the departure of Thompson, his longtime backcourt partner and fellow architect of the Warriors’ dynasty. This upcoming season marks the third year the two will not be playing alongside each other on the court.
“I miss that dude every day,” Curry said. “But that’s part of the NBA, and it’s like one of those situations. Once he left, was that three years ago now? Yeah. You know everything’s not going to be the same because we all grew up together. Me and Draymond [Green], we grew up as adults. We grew up as competitors, as champions.”
Curry reminisced about the bond he shares with Thompson and Green, characterizing their time together as a foundational period of growth and success. He anticipates a future where the trio can look back on their accomplishments.
“When we all retire, I will be looking forward to having a glass of bourbon, and reminisce on all the things that we were able to accomplish,” Curry stated.
Thompson is set to begin his tenure with the Miami Heat after spending the previous two seasons with the Dallas Mavericks. He was waived by Dallas over the summer and subsequently signed a two-year, $11.5 million contract with Miami.
Curry expressed support for Thompson’s move. “I’m happy for him in Miami. I know it’s he wants to be in a situation where he can be impactful, have a championship-contending kind of energy going into the season,” Curry said. “... So for him, he deserves an opportunity to play and impact a winning team. I wish it was still with us, but that’s part of the nature of how things evolve in the league.”
Curry, Thompson, and Green were instrumental in securing four NBA championships for the Warriors. Their 2015-16 season, in which they achieved a record-breaking 73-9 regular season, is often cited as a pinnacle of their shared success.
“Nobody’s going to hold that cloud over any of our heads because what we accomplished was so great that we’ll talk about it forever,” Curry added.
As Thompson begins his new journey, Curry is preparing for his 18th NBA season. The Warriors are scheduled to open their season on the road against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday.
