Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry demonstrated strong support for the WNBA's Golden State Valkyries as they prepared to play in Game 1 of the WNBA Finals against the Atlanta Dream.
Ahead of the Warriors' preseason game, Curry was seen wearing a custom Veronica Burton jersey during warmups. The entire Warriors team also donned various Valkyries jerseys to show solidarity with the WNBA franchise. Curry took to social media platform X to express his encouragement, writing, “Finals time. Go take care of business @valkyries! 💜💪🏾.”
The Warriors' backing extended beyond apparel. Coach Steve Kerr and player Draymond Green were in attendance for Game 1 of the WNBA Finals at Chase Center, the home arena of the Valkyries.
The Golden State Valkyries, who share the same owner as the Warriors, Joe Lacob, have quickly become a prominent franchise in women's professional sports. In their inaugural season in 2025, they reached the playoffs and consistently sold out home games at Chase Center.
In 2026, the Valkyries defeated the defending WNBA champions, the Las Vegas Aces, in the semifinals to secure their spot in the WNBA Finals. This achievement, in only the franchise's second season, has positioned the Valkyries as a model for other women's sports teams. Golden State has the opportunity to further solidify its legacy with a victory in Game 1 against Atlanta.
