Steph Curry Expresses Disappointment With Warriors Front Office

Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry has voiced his concerns regarding the team's front office and the construction of the roster heading into the upcoming season. Despite securing a two-year, $116 million contract extension, Curry acknowledged a sense of disappointment surrounding the team's lack of significant offseason moves.

"I mean, I’m not an idiot. I know what it means in the sense of that window we had where coming off of ‘22, there were opportunities to get better, add new talent, and some worked out, some didn’t," Curry stated in comments to NBC Sports Bay Area. He added, "And the jury is still out on how we end this entire journey with a competitive mindset."

The Warriors retained Curry for another two years, but questions persist about the team's overall competitiveness, especially as leading scorer Jimmy Butler is expected to miss the start of the season recovering from a torn ACL. Curry anticipates carrying a significant offensive load once again.

"We knew there’s never really going to be a scenario where you’re going to be in the favorites conversation from a championship-contending perspective," Curry said, referencing the strength of other teams in the league. He reflected on recent seasons, including an early second-round playoff exit in the year prior and a playoff appearance where the team was one game away from advancing, despite Curry missing over 40 games due to injury. He emphasized his desire to win above all else.

"Last year, I missed 40-whatever games. Availability was the biggest theme, and we’re still one game away from getting to a playoff run and who knows what happens," Curry noted. "So, all that to say, I’ve had a really amazing career and journey. I want to win. All the other chatter doesn’t necessarily matter to me in terms of how I grade our seasons."

The team's quiet offseason has drawn criticism, with many questioning whether the front office has assembled a roster capable of contending. Curry’s remarks suggest an awareness of these concerns and a focus on maximizing the remainder of his career with winning.

Draymond Green and Steph Curry will play together at least one more season on the Warriors.
