Steph Curry Backs NBA's Punishment for Clippers Salary Cap Violations

Golden State Warriors player Steph Curry has publicly supported the NBA's disciplinary actions against the Los Angeles Clippers and owner Steve Ballmer for violating salary cap regulations. The NBA penalized the Clippers by stripping them of five future first-round draft picks and imposing a $30 million fine.

Curry indicated he was not surprised by the league's decision. "I think the reason the investigation took as long as it did and the idea that Steve Ballmer, who I’ve gotten to know and is a great guy, is standing by the punishment," Curry stated. "So there’s a reason it’s happened the way that it has."

He added, "At the end of the day, Adam Silver had a job to do, and I think the punishment makes sense. And we all move forward."

Steve Ballmer, who initially disputed the NBA's findings, has since accepted the league's sanctions. In a statement, Ballmer apologized for the distraction and distress the matter caused, taking responsibility as the principal owner. He confirmed the Clippers are complying with the penalties and have paid the fine.

The scandal also impacted player Kawhi Leonard, who received a $700,000 fine for his involvement. The NBA's investigation into the Clippers' actions, particularly regarding salary cap circumvention, has been ongoing.

Despite accepting the league's penalties, Ballmer and the Clippers may still face further scrutiny, with reports suggesting a potential federal probe into the matter.
