Stefon Diggs, recently signed by the Washington Commanders, has voiced his optimism about the team's roster, stating they possess "a lot of talent." Diggs joined the Commanders on a one-year deal worth up to $12 million after being released by the New England Patriots in March.
Diggs, who grew up approximately 35 minutes north of Commanders' home stadium and played college football for the Maryland Terrapins, expressed his desire to win and contribute to the team's direction. "Winning is the main thing for me," Diggs said. "I just want to win."
The Commanders are coming off a 5-12 season in 2025, a decline from their previous year's performance which saw them reach the NFC Championship Game. The team's offense ranked 24th in passing yards and tied for 22nd in points per game. Quarterback Jayden Daniels, the 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year, was limited to seven games due to injuries.
Washington has made several offseason moves, including drafting linebacker Sonny Styles and signing free agents such as linebackers Odafe Oweh and Leo Chenal, defensive tackles Javon Kinlaw and Tim Settle, cornerback Amik Robertson, and tight end Chig Okonkwo.
Diggs, a 2020 All-Pro, led the Patriots in receptions and receiving yards last year, reaching Super Bowl LX. This marks Diggs' fourth team in as many years, having previously played for the Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills, and Houston Texans before joining the Patriots.
