Stefon Diggs' Attorneys Claim Accuser Lied After Being Caught Stealing

Attorneys for Washington Commanders receiver Stefon Diggs have stated in court documents that the influencer accusing him of sexual assault is fabricating the claims because he was caught stealing. The filing comes as part of ongoing counter lawsuits between Diggs and Christopher Griffith, a sports and marketing influencer.

Griffith initially accused Diggs of drugging and sexually assaulting him at the NFL player's Maryland home in 2023. Griffith also alleged that Diggs' brother, Darez Diggs, and others attacked him and stole property worth $100,000 during the encounter. While Griffith and Darez Diggs have since settled their lawsuit, Griffith is pursuing his own claims, asserting the sexual misconduct allegations are true. He has also countersued Stefon Diggs for defamation, contesting the wide receiver's claim that the allegations stemmed from a botched robbery.

In a July Instagram post, Stefon Diggs stated that someone was "lying on my name because he got caught stealing." Diggs' legal team has now responded to Griffith's countersuit, denying all liability and asserting that Diggs' social media post constitutes protected speech because it is truthful. Mitch Schuster, one of Diggs' attorneys, also noted the court's denial of Griffith's motion to change the venue for the case.

"The latest filing is a routine answer to Mr. Griffith's allegations, and operates to deny any and all liability, as Mr. Diggs has done throughout the entirety of this case," Schuster told The Daily Mail. "Additionally, we are pleased with the Court's latest decision denying Mr. Griffith's motion to transfer venue. Mr. Diggs looks forward to presenting his defamation claims to a jury and remains confident that truth and justice will prevail."

Griffith's legal team previously submitted over 100 pages of messages to the court, which they contend support the sexual assault allegations. The specific content of these messages has not been disclosed, and Diggs publicly challenged their release in his social media post, asking, "100 pages? Okay post them then."

Separately, Diggs faces another lawsuit from Nigel King, a former college teammate and personal assistant, who alleges defamation and conspiracy. King claims Diggs falsely blamed him for the theft of his Ferrari in 2024, which King alleges led to an attack by Diggs' associates at a Miami strip club in December. While Stefon Diggs is not accused of direct involvement in the alleged attack, his brothers Trevon and Darez Diggs were named as defendants in the original complaint. King's attorneys have since dropped allegations against Trevon Diggs.

Stefon Diggs has denied orchestrating the attack in a motion to dismiss. In May, Diggs was found not guilty of felony strangulation and assault and battery charges brought by his former personal chef. Despite these legal issues, the Washington Commanders signed Diggs to a one-year contract valued at over $10 million. He has dealt with hamstring and hand injuries this season but was recently cleared to play.
