The individual accusing NFL free agent Stefon Diggs of sexual assault has submitted more than 100 pages of messages exchanged between himself and the wide receiver to the court. This action marks a new development in the ongoing legal dispute between the two.

Attorneys representing Diggs had previously requested these messages, asserting that the accuser, identified as Christopher Griffith, had not provided them, according to court documents. Griffith, however, maintains that these messages will support his allegations.

The legal battle began in October 2025 when Diggs, then with the New England Patriots, filed a defamation lawsuit against Griffith, an online influencer. Diggs alleged that Griffith was spreading false information about him on social media. Griffith subsequently filed a counterclaim, accusing Diggs of drugging and sexually assaulting him, accusations that Diggs denies.

A July status report indicated that the discovery phase of the case has concluded. Diggs' legal team intends to file a dispositive pretrial motion, a request for a judge to rule on some or all of the case's claims.

Allegations in Counterclaim

According to Griffith's counterclaim, the alleged incident occurred on May 21, 2023. He claims he was invited to stay at Diggs's Maryland property. Later that night, they reportedly went to nightclubs in Washington D.C. until the early hours of May 22.

Griffith alleges that Diggs offered him "candy" during this outing. Although he initially declined, Griffith claims he consumed some after growing hungry. He states that the candy was drugged, leading to disorientation, dilated pupils, and difficulty forming sentences, despite not consuming alcohol.

Further allegations in the court filing include Diggs exposing himself in a car and masturbating in front of Griffith. Griffith claims Diggs encouraged him to touch his genitalia. According to the suit, Griffith forcefully asked Diggs to stop and then exited the vehicle.

Griffith also alleges that as he approached the entrance to the residence, Diggs grabbed his shoulder, pulled him closer, and attempted to kiss him. When Griffith avoided the kiss, Diggs allegedly whispered for him to come to his room. Griffith claims he struggled to resist due to the alleged effects of the substance he consumed.

Subsequent Confrontation and Assault Allegations

Upon entering the home, Griffith claims he encountered two women and Darez Diggs, Stefon Diggs's brother. According to the court filing, they allegedly threatened Griffith and demanded he claim he had stolen items from the residence rather than discuss the evening's events. Griffith alleges he was then forced into a vehicle and dropped off at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport wearing an ill-fitting sweatshirt.

Griffith further claims that on May 29, 2023, he was attacked inside his apartment building by individuals associated with Diggs, including his brother Darez. The filing states that Griffith was kicked and punched in the head multiple times in an elevator, and had valuable items, including his phone, taken.

Darez Diggs later pleaded no contest to a felony charge of grand theft from a person in March 2024 and was sentenced to two years of probation and community service. Griffith claims he suffered a traumatic brain injury, fractures to his left leg and ankle, and a meniscus tear in his left knee as a result of the attack.

Diggs's defamation lawsuit against Griffith contends that these accusations have severely damaged his reputation.

Diggs recently concluded his season with the New England Patriots, who released him. He had previously faced a felony charge of strangulation and a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery related to an alleged incident with his chef, but he was acquitted after a trial. Diggs also has a child with rapper Cardi B, though the couple has experienced periods of separation.
