Steffie Waters has ended her engagement to Sydney Swans star Isaac Heeney, with friends citing a "betrayal" as the reason for the split. Waters, described as one of the most prominent WAGs in the Australian Football League, could not forgive Heeney's actions.
Sources close to Waters revealed the private heartbreak that followed the incident, which led her to walk away from the engagement. The nature of the "betrayal" occurred "behind closed doors" and was specific enough that Waters felt unable to move past it.
Within hours of the scandal breaking, Waters reportedly fled the couple's $4 million home in Maroubra and traveled interstate to Noosa. Waters was seen looking visibly distressed while making an emotional phone call on Friday afternoon. She has also purged her Instagram account, removing photos of herself and Heeney, including their engagement pictures. The couple had become engaged last October during a holiday in French Polynesia.
Heeney has since returned to Sydney Swans headquarters for routine player exit meetings. He was flanked by teammates James Jordan and Nick Blakey as he arrived at the facility in Moore Park last Wednesday.
