Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf has shared unusual theories about Antarctica, claiming it could be "another world" and suggesting a hidden civilization exists within the Earth.

Metcalf aired these beliefs in a recent interview with The Athletic. "I'm a big conspiracy theorist," he stated, adding a shout-out to his quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. When asked about Antarctica, Metcalf questioned why it's not as accessible as the North Pole and pondered the purpose of meetings held there by world leaders.

"Why is there a meeting between every world leader of every country in Antarctica, specifically?" Metcalf asked in the interview. However, there is no evidence to support the claim that world leaders convene in Antarctica.

Regarding the possibility of life in Antarctica, scientific perspectives differ from Metcalf's theories. Brent Christner, an associate professor of microbiology at the University of Florida, was cited in the interview. Christner explained that while microbes exist in the water beneath Antarctica's ice, the environment is too harsh for larger organisms to survive due to extreme cold and the lack of external food sources.

Tourism to Antarctica does occur, primarily between November and March, with most visitors arriving by ship. While commercial airports are absent, government-controlled airfields do exist on the continent.

Metcalf, a key player for Rodgers this season, was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in 2019 and traded to the Steelers before the current season. In his first year with Pittsburgh, he recorded 59 receptions for 850 yards and six touchdowns in 15 regular-season games. The upcoming NFL season is reportedly Aaron Rodgers's last.

Last season, Metcalf faced an incident with a fan during a game, which resulted in a two-game suspension from the NFL. The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office decided not to pursue criminal charges after an investigation into the interaction.
