Beau Clark, husband of Vanderpump Rules alum Stassi Schroeder, revealed significant marital struggles in the premiere episode of her new Hulu series, "House of Stassi." Clark, 46, who married Schroeder, 38, in 2020, broke down in tears while discussing his feelings with Schroeder's podcast co-host, Taylor Strecker.
Clark confessed to feeling "angry and resentful" in his relationship with Schroeder, attributing these emotions to his role as a stay-at-home father while Schroeder maintains a demanding career. He described their home dynamic as akin to "roommates," expressing a sense of detachment.
"I'm trying to balance wanting her to have her space and to be able to not stress out when she's working," Clark shared, as reported by Us Weekly. "But then also I'm sitting here and I'm angry and resentful."
He admitted to suppressing these feelings rather than confronting them directly with Schroeder. "I just got so detached from her that it's like we're roommates. I don't feel worthy," he stated in a taped confessional. Clark elaborated that he hesitates to discuss these issues with his wife due to her busy schedule with her show, podcast, and brand deals.
Clark eventually found the courage to articulate his feelings to Schroeder, explaining how his role as a stay-at-home dad has impacted his mental health. He likened his situation to being a "1950s housewife," feeling disconnected due to the lack of consistent connection with his wife.
Schroeder was visibly moved by Clark's comparison of their relationship to that of roommates. She reassured him, expressing her desire for him to communicate his feelings openly and prevent issues from building up. Schroeder acknowledged the need to "make more of an effort" and committed to working through their challenges together.
In her own confessional, Schroeder praised Clark for his support, particularly since they started their family. "All I know is him being with me in the thick of it every day - for the last five years. I became a mom and he was with me the whole entire time," she said.
Despite Clark's emotional difficulties, Schroeder stated that his confession did not make her regret her decision to return to reality television. "I've already been working for years to get here. I can't just stop now because all of a sudden, Beau waited until this very moment to tell me that," she said.
The couple, parents to daughter Hartford, five, and son Messer, two, first met in 2017 while Schroeder was starring on Bravo's "Vanderpump Rules." They legally married in California in 2020 and later had a larger ceremony in Rome, Italy, in 2022. Schroeder gave birth to Hartford in January 2021 and to Messer in September 2023.
