Starz Announces Premiere Date for 'Outlander: Blood of My Blood' Season 2
The prequel series delves into the past of Claire Fraser's parents and Jamie Fraser's parents.
Starz is set to transport viewers back to the Scottish Highlands with the second season of Outlander: Blood of My Blood, premiering on Friday, September 18. The prequel series continues to expand the Outlander universe by exploring the origins of key characters from the original show.
Unraveling Family Histories
Outlander: Blood of My Blood focuses on the formative years of Claire Fraser's parents, Julia and Henry Beauchamp, as well as Jamie Fraser's parents, Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser. While the original Outlander series concluded its run, the prequel offers a deep dive into the lore, exploring how Julia and Henry traveled through the Stones at Craigh na Dun and found themselves in the 1710s.
In this past timeline, Julia and Henry become entangled in their own romantic narrative while also impacting the lives of Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser. The story juxtaposes the challenges faced by Claire's parents during World War I, including Henry's involvement with the Grant family as a lawyer and Julia's efforts to secure her survival and that of her unborn child, with the unfolding forbidden romance between Ellen and Brian in 18th-century Scotland.
Season 1 Recap
The first season of Blood of My Blood established the complex dynamics within Clan MacKenzie following the death of Laird “Red Jacob” MacKenzie. Ellen, the eldest heir, found herself in a succession crisis, navigating the ambitions of her brothers Colum and Dougal, and the threat posed by James MacKinney. Despite an arranged marriage to Malcolm Grant, Ellen's heart belonged to Brian Fraser. Their elopement and subsequent conflict with Malcolm led to his death and their flight into hiding.
Concurrently, Julia and Henry Beauchamp grappled with their own temporal displacement. Julia, sold into service to Lord Lovat, sought to protect her baby, William. Henry, misled into believing Julia had died in childbirth, found solace with a sex worker named Seema. The season culminated with Julia and Henry reuniting and attempting to return to Claire's timeline via the Stones, only to be intercepted by Arch Bug.
