Prime Minister Keir Starmer received a standing ovation from his party and other Members of Parliament after delivering his final answer at his last Prime Minister's Questions.
"To all those in the gallery, whose lives have been changed or improved by this Labour government, and all across the country who struggle to be seen or heard, you are the reason I came into politics," Starmer stated during his concluding remarks. He also offered a personal farewell, saying, "To my wife and children, I love you. Goodbye."
Following his statement, several MPs rose to their feet and applauded Starmer as he proceeded to shake the hand of the Speaker of the House of Commons.
Andy Burnham is anticipated to assume leadership of the Labour Party later this week and is expected to take office as prime minister on July 20. Burnham's initial appearance at Prime Minister's Questions is not expected until after the parliamentary summer recess.
