Standoff Erupts Over Socialite Libbie Mugrabi's Hamptons Mansion

A dispute over the sale of socialite Libbie Mugrabi's Hamptons mansion has led to a standoff, prompting police calls and creating concern among neighbors. Mugrabi was compelled to sell her Southampton property in a court-ordered auction last month to settle outstanding loans.

Queens politician and real estate investor Henry Ikezi emerged as the winning bidder, offering $5.86 million for the property in September. However, the transfer of ownership has been contentious, with reports of Mugrabi initially refusing to vacate the premises. A source close to the situation indicated that Ikezi and his team are facing challenges gaining full control, as some of Mugrabi's belongings and staff reportedly remain on the property.

Video footage obtained by Page Six captured an individual, allegedly an associate of Ikezi, stating, "We’re gonna do this his way, or we’re gonna do this my way. We don’t want this my way." This alleged interaction adds to the tension surrounding the property.

The ongoing situation has unsettled long-time residents, including Will Kaplan, whose mother lives next door to the disputed mansion. Kaplan stated that he has been receiving frequent calls from Mugrabi and her family members regarding the events unfolding at the property.

"My mom’s really terrified about this, and about the conduct to all parties," Kaplan told Page Six. He described Mugrabi as "a vulnerable individual in need of assistance" and expressed concern that the situation is negatively impacting the community. "The alleged conduct of Mr. Ikezi and other parties have really scared her, and the community," Kaplan added.

Southampton Town Police confirmed receiving one call for service at Mugrabi's home last week. Ikezi has denied allegations of harassing Mugrabi's staff, stating, "We’re going to adjudicate any legal matters we have in court and not in the press."

Kaplan believes Mugrabi has been a victim of financial abuse and is now left without a home, which he considers a dangerous situation. He urged Mugrabi's family to intervene and provide assistance, noting that "Good neighbors can only go so far." Mugrabi herself did not provide comment on the situation.
