Stafford Explains Costly Pick-Six in Rams' Loss to Broncos

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford shed light on a pivotal moment in his team's Sunday Night Football loss to the Denver Broncos: a record-setting pick-six that shifted the game's momentum. The interception, returned for a 66-yard touchdown by Broncos safety Talanoa Hufanga, occurred with less than five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
"Hufanga did a really nice job of kinda fighting through the Y. Just left it a little bit back behind him," Stafford said, reflecting on the pass intended for running back Kyren Williams. Despite the costly turnover, the Rams managed to score on their subsequent drive to regain the lead.
However, the momentum did not hold, as Denver surged in the second half, ultimately scoring 30 points to secure the victory. Stafford acknowledged the offense's resilience in bouncing back immediately after the interception but stressed the need for greater precision.
"The pick six was a tough one. We bounced right back and went down and scored right after that to retake the lead," Stafford stated. "So proud of our toughness there and being able to go and get that done. But don’t wanna have those things happen. Just gotta clean some things up."
The loss dropped the Rams to a 1-2 record to start the season, placing them in a tie for last place in the NFC West. The team faces a challenging upcoming schedule, with games against the Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills on the horizon.
