St. Bernard High School Kicker Stands Nearly Seven Feet Tall, Goes Viral

Gurang-Gurang Macham, a senior at St. Bernard High School in Playa del Rey, California, is gaining attention as potentially the tallest kicker in high school football history. Standing at 6-foot-9 and weighing 200 pounds, Macham has made a notable impact on the St. Bernard Vikings' football team this season.

Originally from Sudan, Macham also plays basketball, but decided to lend his talents to the football field for his senior year. In four games played so far, he has successfully completed 11 of 19 field goal attempts (.579). The Vikings have achieved a 4-0 record to start their season, with victories over Amigos, Westchester, Wilson, and Beverly Hills.

For comparison, the tallest kicker in NFL history is Neil O’Donoghue, who stood 6-foot-6. O’Donoghue played nine seasons in the NFL during the 1970s and 80s. If Macham were to join the NFL, his height would surpass O’Donoghue’s by three inches, potentially setting a new record.

St. Bernard High School's next game is an away match against Bosco Tech, marking their first league game of the season.
