A fast-moving blaze fueled by strong winds has destroyed at least six houses and forced thousands to evacuate in coastal Southern California.

Fire crews are battling a wind-driven wildfire in Southern California that has consumed at least six homes and prompted the evacuation of approximately 16,000 residents.
The blaze, which began Tuesday afternoon in the hills of Laguna Niguel in Orange County, spread rapidly due to gusty conditions. Firefighters are working to contain the flames that have burned into residential areas.
In addition to the six homes confirmed destroyed, authorities are assessing damage to other structures. The evacuation orders cover a significant portion of the surrounding community, affecting an estimated 16,000 people.
