A South Carolina mother, Helena Nichole Hoyle, 27, faces charges of trafficking and child neglect after allegedly permitting men to sexually assault her two young daughters in exchange for money and illicit drugs. Authorities reported that Hoyle was present during at least one assault, scrolling on her phone while her daughter was victimized.

Investigators with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office were informed by the children that they had been repeatedly sexually assaulted by multiple unknown men over time. According to the report, Hoyle would exchange her daughters for money and drugs, though the specific amounts or substances were not detailed.

The children also disclosed to police that they were living in impoverished conditions, lacking access to running water for bathing or brushing their teeth. They reportedly used a bucket for a toilet. Hoyle was booked into the Berkeley County Jail, where her bail was set at $250,000.
