Multiple sources connected to the talk show "The View" have indicated that former co-host Meghan McCain is not being considered for potential invitations to celebrate the show's 30th anniversary next season. These individuals expressed surprise if an invitation were extended, citing her past conduct.
Sources described McCain's behavior on- and off-camera as difficult, with one individual calling her "the most horrible, biggest pain in the ass." Another source claimed McCain once swore at an executive producer in front of the studio audience. Reports also suggest McCain frequently clashed with staff members, at times allegedly yelling across the stage and referencing her father, the late Senator John McCain.
McCain's tenure on "The View" lasted four seasons before her departure in 2021. During her time on the show, her interactions with co-hosts were also notable. In one instance, moderator Whoopi Goldberg publicly asked McCain to stop talking. Co-host Joy Behar also stated she did not miss McCain when the latter returned from maternity leave.
Following her exit, McCain characterized the work environment at "The View" as "toxic" in her audio memoir, "Bad Republican." She stated she felt mistreated due to her conservative viewpoints and cited postpartum anxiety as a factor during her return to the show. McCain has continued to criticize the current hosts, referring to them as "shitty and undisciplined" in a social media post after they interviewed Vice President J.D. Vance. She asserted that the hosts still make basic factual errors and struggle to get through segments without arguing.
The show's executive producer, Brian Teta, confirmed via social media that "lots of plans are in the works" for the anniversary but stated that "no invites have gone out" yet. Neither McCain nor a spokesperson for "The View" provided comment on the reports.
