Soulja Boy Teases 2028 Presidential Run, Outlines Four-Point Platform

Rapper Soulja Boy has indicated a potential run for president in the 2028 election, laying out four key campaign platforms in a recent Instagram post.

DeAndre Cortez Way, known professionally as Soulja Boy, titled his Sunday post "SOULJA BOY 2028" and shared an image of himself in front of an American flag. The 36-year-old artist stated that a "new chapter" and a "bigger vision" are ahead, with a commitment to "creating opportunities for the next generation."

His proposed campaign would focus on four primary areas: "Economic opportunity, criminal justice reform, education, and the future of technology and AI," according to his post.

Way added that he has "always believed in thinking bigger and challenging what’s possible" across his career in music, business, and technology, and is currently "exploring what it means to bring that same vision to public service." He concluded the post by stating that "the future starts with a conversation."

Further details regarding party affiliation were not specified. This announcement follows Soulja Boy's appearance at the Crypto Ball in Washington D.C. in January 2025, an event held ahead of President Donald Trump's second-term inauguration, which also featured Snoop Dogg and Rick Ross.

At the time of the Crypto Ball, Soulja Boy defended his participation, stating he was well-compensated and had been "somewhat misled" about the event's political implications. He noted that Trump himself was not present and that the event was primarily for cryptocurrency.

The idea of Soulja Boy entering politics has previously been the subject of a "Saturday Night Live" skit in January 2019, which parodied his comments about being a forerunner among rappers. Way reportedly found the parody amusing, though he clarified at the time that he had not actually discussed running for president.
